Alhaji Mamadi Kurang, former secretary to the Janneh Commission, has confirmed he is prepared to testify before the National Assembly’s inquiry into the controversial sale of assets linked to former President Yahya Jammeh.

The parliamentary inquiry was launched following concerns over the sale of state assets allegedly connected to Jammeh’s regime.

The National Assembly aims to investigate whether these transactions were conducted transparently and in the national interest, amid allegations of mismanagement and corruption.

Kurang, who served as secretary to the Janneh Commission, tasked with auditing Jammeh-era assets, announced his readiness to appear before the inquiry in a post on his Facebook page, stating: “The National Assembly has summoned. We shall answer. We move.”

His announcement comes amid a legal dispute with former lead counsel of the Janneh Commission, Amie Bensouda.

The two have been engaged in a court battle concerning claims of defamation and professional conduct relating to their respective roles during and after the Janneh Commission’s work.

The dispute has drawn public attention given their high-profile positions and involvement in the ongoing efforts to hold the Jammeh regime accountable.
