APRC has dismissed rumours of a coalition deal with President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party.
The party’s spokesman Dodou Jah denied social media rumours that APRC has entered into a coalition agreement with NPP as the 2021 presidential election draws near.
“I wanted to make this very clear which many people are talking about more especially the supporters of the National People’s Party that the APRC party has already agreed a coalition with their newly formed political party.
“I can tell you that if we as an opposition party formed a coalition with any political party in the country that will not come as a surprise to anyone because we will be the first to come and announce it to the public,” he said.
“It is the NPP who are currently using our name that we have agreed to form a coalition with them.
“Yes, we have had series of meetings with them but I still inform you that we have never agreed to form a coalition government with the newly formed National People’s Party (NPP).
“So, if the NPP are saying such they are just saying it out of their own wish but this is to inform you that agreement to form a coalition with them is never the case.”
He added: “we are not looking for supporters to bring to our party. We are currently having one of the largest support bases in the country.
“So, it is the NPP who are currently busy looking for people to join the party this is why they are using our name that we have already agreed to form a coalition with them.”
