Auditor General Modou Ceesay has dismissed Dr Ismaila Ceesay’s claim that he had initially accepted a ministerial appointment.
In a letter dated 14 September 2025, Mr Ceesay said he was not informed of the offer prior to receiving the official appointment letter.
“I hereby affirm that I was not informed about the offered appointment prior to receiving the letter of appointment. I neither accepted it verbally nor in writing,” he wrote.
He added that upon receiving the appointment letter on 10 September 2025, he rejected the offer the same day.
“I swiftly rejected the offer the same day and formalized my decline through my letter dated 11 September 2025,” Mr Ceesay said.
He concluded by emphasising his commitment to his constitutional duties:“I therefore remain committed to my constitutional duties as the Auditor General, maintaining the principles of transparency, accountability and good governance.”
