Ousainou Bai Sankareh has taken the country by surprise after making a dramatic U-turn to the ruling National People’s Party on Saturday in Janjanbureh.

Bai had previously left the party alongside Kebba Madi Bojang and dozens of others to form their movement called the National Development Party, citing being sidelined by the party.

He had vowed to unseat President Adama Barrow in the 2026 polls.

However, in a dramatic twist, Bai Sankareh rejoined the National People’s Party and sought forgiveness from President Adama Barrow and members of his party for criticizing them.

“I come here to rejoin my home and seek forgiveness from President Adama Barrow and all those I have offended during this period,” he said while addressing the rally.

He wowed the crowd by committing to lay down his life for the president’s reelection in 2026, warning the opposition of a humiliating defeat if they challenge Barrow.

“We all know each other in this country, and we are ready to lay our lives for President Adama Barrow. If anyone believes in themselves, kindly come forward and receive the biggest humiliation of your life in 2026,” he added.
