A man suspected of beating a teenage boy to death in Basse Demba Kunda will now face trial at the Banjul high court.

Kamo Hydara appeared today before Basse Magistrates’ Court for his murder trial.

Magistrate Peter Che Esq ruled that the case should be transferred to the high court in Banjul, citing that the lower court has no jurisdiction to hear a murder case.

Hydara was arrested alongside two other people last week in Basse.

He is accused of killing fourteen-year-old Yusuf Samateh. He confessed to police during interrogation that he killed the boy while he was trying to discipline him. It’s not clear whether they are related.
