President Adama Barrow has approved the promotion of 1,400 Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) personnel to various ranks, effective January 1, 2026.
The promotions cover soldiers and ratings and were approved by Barrow in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief through Defence Minister Baboucarr Ousmaila Joof.
The GAF said the promotions are in line with its Terms and Conditions of Service and recognise the dedication and service of its personnel.

The latest promotions come as the GAF continues to advance personnel across its ranks, with the President also approving the promotion of three senior commanders earlier this week.
The Armed Forces congratulated the promoted personnel and wished them continued success in their service to the country.
