President Adama Barrow has openly criticised Essa Faal over his donkey cart comment, describing the Sobeyaa-APP leader as “ignorant”.
Lawyer Faal has recently faced backlash from supporters of President Barrow following his comment lashing out at an unnamed presidential adviser as once a ‘donkey cart driver.
Speaking during the ruling National People’s Party’s non-elective congress held in Soma, President Barrow described Essa Faal as an “ignorant” man who “looks low upon others”.

“I heard one of the politicians said that one of President Barrow’s advisers was a donkey cart driver,” he said referring to lawyer Essa Faal.

“But he is ignorant and pompous. Even I, who is the president today once rode on the donkey. Who was born in the rural Gambia and had never driven a donkey cart? In fact, donkey carts was a luxury in the 70s in the country because not every body could afford it,” he added.
