President Adama Barrow has gifted plots of land to Gambian athletes including rising star Gina Bass for successes at the African Games in Rabat, Morocco. 

The president received The Gambian team to the games at the State House to personally congratulate them for their exceptional performance and putting the name of country on the athletic world map.

While Gina Bass and the volleyball players, who won gold were given land, other players in the Gambian delegation to the Africa Games each received D50, 000.

Gina Bass won silver medal in the women’s 100m final of the African Games clocking 11.13 seconds finishing behind Ivorian Sprinter and African Champion Marie Jose Talou, who ran 11.11.

The 24-year-old sprinter’s achievement has earned her a place in the 2019 World Championship in Doha next month as well as Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Meanwhile the men relay team set a new national record of 39:20 breaking the 40.20 previous record.

The men’s volleyball team also break their record by winning Gold in the African Games in Rabat.
