President Adama Barrow has handed over a new livestock drinking water facility to the community of Dingiri in Tumana District, reinforcing his government’s commitment to expanding development and water access to communities across The Gambia.
The facility, funded by the Islamic Development Bank, is expected to provide clean and sustainable water for livestock while improving animal health and supporting the livelihoods of livestock farmers in the area.
The intervention forms part of the government’s YIRIWA development agenda, which seeks to ensure that communities across the country have improved access to essential infrastructure and services.
The livestock water facility is also expected to help ease challenges faced by farmers during periods of water scarcity, providing a more reliable source of water for animals.
The project highlights the government’s focus on supporting rural communities and strengthening livelihoods through investments in basic infrastructure.
By providing dedicated water infrastructure for livestock, the facility is expected to contribute to improved livestock production and the economic wellbeing of farmers in Dingiri and surrounding communities.
The handover forms part of President Barrow’s wider development engagements across the country, under his stated commitment to ensuring that no community is left behind in the national development process.
The government continues to pursue interventions aimed at improving access to water, strengthening agriculture and livestock production, and creating better conditions for rural communities.
The Dingiri facility adds to these efforts by addressing a critical need for livestock farmers and supporting the government’s broader objective of improving livelihoods across The Gambia.
