President Adama Barrow has launched a programme for “accelerated” community development.
The programme aims to close the gap between urban and rural communities by providing portable water, improved road connectivity, energy and food security.
Speaking at the launch, President Barrow said the project is “very close to his heart” and was created out of genuine concern for Gambian citizens”, adding “Gambians have been suffering for far too long”.
The initiative, which is still in its early stages and is sponsored by The Gambia Government, is under the Department of Strategic Policy and Delivery (DSPD) and executed in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme ( UNDP).
