Gambian President Adama Barrow has expressed deep sorrow following the deaths of seven NAWEC electricians who were electrocuted when an old electric pole fell onto live wires in Kerr Galo, near Essau.
The incident occurred on Wednesday as the team was replacing aging poles.
In the aftermath, many mourners took to social media to express their condolences.
President Barrow addressed the tragedy in a statement: “I have been informed of the tragic accident involving seven young Gambians working on a contract at Mendy Kunda, Sami Essau in the North Bank Region. The young men were working on a project contracted to BB Electrical. We share the sorrow with their families during these trying times and pray for Allah to grant the deceased eternal peace in Jannah.”
