President Adama Barrow has promised to unify the polarised Gambian society for the development of the country and also promised to bring back the rejected draft constitution.

Barrow who got re-elected into office last Saturday faced an uphill task to unify the deep political rift among Gambians.

Speaking at a State House press conference on Tuesday, President Barrow said he would work to fix the divide and govern in the interests of all Gambians.

“We tried to unify the Gambian people as I always said: I will be the president for all Gambians and also we will try to make sure some even the people we disagreed with we will try to work with them in the future.

“But we are open, we know this is not about personal issues, this is about principles, this about The Gambia and we should all understand that if you are a Gambian, it’s everybody’s responsibility to contribute to national development.

“You are not working for Adama Barrow, nobody is working for me that’s why this election, I don’t think there is a loser. We are all winners because it’s The Gambia that’s important. So, we will do everything possible to bring people together.”
