President Barrow has sacked his Secretary General and Head of Civil Service without an explanation.

Muhammed BS Jallow, who spent only nine months in the post, was sacked two days after Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

He was replaced by Noah Touray, a former associate of former president Yahya Jammeh.

There was no official statement from the Office of the President on the major change in government.

Gambians who are opposed to the appointment took to social media to vent their disagreements. They accused the Barrow administration of cosying up to close associates of former president Yahya Jammeh.
