President Adama Barrow has said he rescued Lawyer Ousainou Darboe from the hands of former President Yahya Jammeh.

Barrow made the comments while speaking at Basse, adding that he had to cancelled  his 2016 pilgrimage to Mecca to save Darboe and Co, who were jailed then for protesting against the death in custod of slain opposition politician Ebrima Solo Sandeng.

“It’s because of Ousainou Darboe that I didn’t go for Hajj in 2016. I cancelled the Hajj and continued fighting to defend him. God then picked me to be a candidate. I fought and defeated the person who arrested them and put them in a hole.

“And I freed them from the hole. But jealousy is very bad. I heard him speaking today saying we are making a living from their [UDP] work,” he said.
