President Adama Barrow has said his predecessor Yahya Jammeh was right to say that the country’s opposition “will not enter heaven”.
Barrow’s latest scathing attack on the opposition comes amid pilling pressure over his style of leadership.
But in a seemingly angry tone, Barrow said: “If hear the opposition say that they will unseat me in 2026 (election), I laugh. Because I know the opposition don’t work. They have no benefit to you other than only talks.
“When I started construction of this road, they (opposition) said it’s politics that this road will not be completed. I promised to bring electricity here and they said I cannot. But it’s opposition comments.”
“When Yahya Jammeh said opposition will go to hell when they die, I didn’t believe him then because I was in the opposition.
“But today I believe him. Opposition don’t like themselves, they don’t love their country. They’re only interested in bad things to happen to the country. They pray for me to make mistake everyday,” he added.
