President Adama Barrow has hit out at critics who once dismissed his political movement, declaring that his National People’s Party (NPP) is “here to stay”.
Speaking to NPP supporters, Barrow didn’t hold back as he celebrated the party’s journey and warned against taking its success for granted.
“We have come a long way, and we shouldn’t take our successes for granted,” he told them.
Barrow fired back at those who doubted the NPP from the start.
“When we launched the party, many didn’t take us seriously. Some even said we wouldn’t last beyond one election,” he said.
“But we don’t make empty noise. We focus on building a strong, permanent party.”
The Gambian leader insisted he’s not in politics to cling to power, but to serve the people.
“My goal isn’t to stay in power forever. It’s to make the best use of the power given to me by Gambians,” he said.
