The Gambian President Adama Barrow seeks to pull home a big project from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he just met with the General Manager of Africa Operations of Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Mohammed A. Alshammari.

The president’s discussed with Saudi senior officials on some big projects sponsored by the Kingdom in the Gambia, while he explored new areas of cooperation.

“The Fund’s active projects are the 50km Bertil-Harding Highway feeder roads in WCR and KM as well as the GBA water and electricity expansion projects. While these projects registered progress, there were some delays due to utilities service relocation and demolition of obstructions on the road corridors.

“The principals recognised the recent resumption of works on the projects, and both committed to hasten the works by supporting the contractors to complete the projects on a timely manner.

“The president thanked the SFD representative for a long partnership since 1977 and urged SFD to expand their portfolio to expand rural road constructions and related infrastructure investments,” State House said in a statement.
