President Adama Barrow has framed the December 2026 presidential election as a choice between continuity and what he described as “backwardness,” urging Banjulians to give him another mandate.
Addressing supporters, Barrow said he had been working for Gambians since 2017 and presented his bid for another term as an opportunity to continue his administration’s work.
“I’m your Bai Faal. I’ve been here working for you since 2017,” the President said.
He added that voters would have to decide whether they wanted continuity under his leadership or a change of direction under other candidates.
“So the election is about continuity and backwardness. So if you want continuity, you have to vote for me. But if you want backwardness, then vote for the other guys,” Barrow said.
The remarks form part of the political messaging ahead of the December 2026 presidential election, in which Barrow is seeking another term in office.
His comments drew a sharp distinction between his administration and opposition candidates, presenting his re-election campaign as a choice about the country’s future direction.
The President’s appeal to Banjulians comes as political parties and candidates intensify their engagement with voters ahead of the election.
