President Adama Barrow will travel to Dakar to attend the second Presidential Council Meeting on Wednesday, a press release from the presidency said.

With the experts from both countries preceding the Presidential Council Meeting, issues such as Defence and Security, Justice and Consular Affairs, Finance, Transport and trade, Higher Education, Tourism, Culture, Health, Fisheries, Agriculture and Energy will be discussed and a draft will be presented to the Ministerial session for review before final adaptation during the Presidential Council Meeting.

The two Heads of State, Adama Barrow and Macky Sall will join the Experts and Ministers on the last day for the Presidential Council Meeting to conclude on the draft reports and roadmaps for the various agreements.

In March 2018, the first Presidential Council Meeting took place in Banjul following President Barrow’s visit to Dakar in 2017, where he expressed the Gambia government’s commitment to the fraternal relations between the two countries.

Since then, both leaders agreed to make it a bi-annual meeting which will allow their experts, technicians and policymakers to work closely together to review their bilateral cooperation and forge new ties.

As a result of the strong ties, the two leaders jointly inaugurated the Senegambia Bridge in January 2019, which makes travelling easier and boosts economic activities for both countries.
