President Adama Barrow

The Gambian president Adama Barrow will preside over a campaign rally of the National People’s Party-led coalition for the upcoming mayoral election.

Nominations for mayors and chairpersons opens today (28 April) across the country as Gambians will go back to the polls on 20 May for the final phase of 2021-2023 election cycle.

Meanwhile, the ruling National People’s Party is a close race with its political nemesis the United Democratic Party to secure the mayoral and chairpersons seats for the big towns including Banjul, Kanifing and Brikama.

“The NPP Secretary General and Party Leader, His Excellency President Adama Barrow will preside over the mega rally,” NPP said in a statement.

According to the statement, “President Adama Barrow called on all to abide by the electoral campaign code of conduct and ethics for a peaceful nomination day and subsequent campaign period.

“He advised all to galvanize efforts for a resounding victory of all nominated  NPP Mayoral and Chairmanship candidates.”
