President Adama Barrow has warned against any attempt to prevent him from running for a third term in office, describing those opposing his bid as “cowards” who remained silent during Jammeh’s 22 years in power.
Speaking at a meeting with the Jokadu community, Barrow said he feels restless when he sees young people, backed by his critics, claiming he will not seek a third term in office.

“I can’t sleep when I see these youngsters beating their chests and speaking boldly. And those encouraging them were the same people who fled this country during Jammeh’s regime and haven’t contributed anything to our politics.
“Some of them weren’t even associating themselves with the UDP. And now, they are the ones saying I will not go for a third term. But I swear, I will teach them an unforgettable lesson.”
Meanwhile, there has been no statement from civil society organisations or the opposition regarding Barrow’s comments.
