The body of a four-year-old boy has been recovered in Bundung, following heavy rains that triggered flash flooding in parts of Greater Banjul.

Abdoulie Keita was reported missing on Saturday after being swept away by floodwaters while walking home from Quranic classes.

Eyewitnesses said the child fell into a ditch near a damaged bridge linking Bundung and Sukuta, before being carried away by water.

His body was found after a 24-hour search and taken to the mortuary at Kanifing General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Residents have urged local authorities to repair the dilapidated bridge, which they say poses a serious risk to public safety during the rainy season.
