
Parts of Greater Banjul are facing a bread shortage after bakers put production on hold in protest over rising costs.
The disruption follows a decision by the bakers’ union to suspend a planned price increase from 10 dalasis to 13 dalasis after talks with the Gambian government.
Despite the agreement, many residents im urban areas woke up to empty shelves as supplies ran low
A source told Gambiana that the union had instructed its members to halt baking, citing rising costs of flour and other essential ingredients.
