Brikama-born striker Omar Darboe is enjoying a sensational season in the Kanifing Municipal Regional 3rd Division League, emerging as one of the top performers for Universal Sporting Boys FC.

The prolific forward has scored 9 goals in 9 matches, helping his team finish top of their group and secure a place in the quarter-finals.

Universal Sporting Boys are now set to face Bakoteh FC as they continue their push to qualify for the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Second Division play-offs.

Speaking exclusively to Gambiana Sports Editor, Darboe credited his form to a strong support system within the team.

“I think the key is that I’m really happy with the team, and my coach has been a big help in improving my goal-scoring. His guidance gives me confidence in every match,” he said.

As the team prepares for the knockout stage, Darboe remains confident in their chances.“I’m very confident we can beat Bakoteh FC. Of course, football is unpredictable, but I believe in myself and the team. We’re ready to take them out of this tournament.”

Looking ahead, the young striker has big dreams both locally and beyond “Yes, I definitely want to play in the GFF First Division this year. It might not be my time just yet, but I’m staying patient and working hard. If I also get the chance to play outside The Gambia, I believe that could help me achieve my bigger dreams.”

Omar Darboe’s breakout season is drawing attention from fans and scouts alike, as he continues to prove himself as one of the most promising young talents in Gambian football.
