A British pensioner, age 70, has been found dead at his Coastal Road home in the Greater Banjul Area.
John Gordthrop died on Sunday after a short illness his Gambian girlfriend’s sister said.
“He got sick on Saturday but told my sister he doesn’t want her to take him to the hospital because they would say he has coronavirus,” she told the Fatunetwork.
“She found her dead on Sunday morning in the house. They went to Jammeh Foundation where the doctors referred them to Kanifing Hospital where doctors their also said he was dead and they should take him to Banjul.”
She claimed John who was on holiday in The Gambia got stranded after he missed his flight due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A test for coronavirus was done as well as post-mortem at the Edward Francis Teaching Hospital to ascertain the cause of death.
