Citizens’ Alliance has said the People’s Democratic Organisation for Independent and Socialism party pulled out of coalition talks on leadership grounds.

CA’s Dominic Mendy told reporters during a news conference at the party’s headquarters in Kanifing, that he led all coalition talks for his CA, adding his party  approached PDOIS for an alliance ahead of the December poll.

“CA I can safely say is the only party apart from the existing NPP coalition that has taken initiative to bring parties together to form an alliance in coalition talks.

“This was done in recognition of the CA’s love for the country and the need to come together in order to successfully accomplish the task at hand,” he said.

“CA tried to bring together CA and PDOIS and because DOI categorically said through their leader that they were not interested in alliance talks except those in which the precondition is that they would lead. The talks couldn’t continue.

“However, if anyone who was approached and refused to engage in alliance or coalition talks now that the public perceive them as those who really love this nation then I wonder what The Gambia is getting at and I am afraid that The Gambia is in serious trouble,” he added.
