Kanifing General Hospital

The Chief Executive Officer of the Kanifing General Hospital has specifically pointed out human resource as a major challenge of the hospital.

Kebba Manneh was speaking to Gambiana in an exclusive interview.

“The major challenge is human resource, we don’t have the required number to match the patients flow in this hospital,” he said.

Mr Manneh said the population the hospital is serving is huge, adding that the nurse and doctor ratio remained a challenge to the hospital.

He added: “so we have a lot of patients coming in and we have a limited staff.”

He also said that the hospital doesn’t have enough specialists, adding that “we are definitely working with the ministry of Health to see how we will improve on that ”

Another challenge for the hospital, Mr Manneh said, includes structural problem.

“We have structural problem, infrastructure we have very tight wards, everything here is so small,” he said.

He said despite the major challenges they are facing, that they are doing utmost efforts to run the hospital efficiently and effectively.
