The governments of the People’s Republic of China and The Gambia have agreed and signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the tourism sector in order to strengthen bilateral ties between Banjul and Beijing.

The deal was signed on February 27 by the Gambia’ s Foreign Minister, Momodou Tangara and the Chinese ambassador to The Gambia, Ma Jianchun.

Ambassador Ma expressed his delight with the China-Gambia cooperation in the past three years, and pointed out that China would like to further push forward the bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of investment, trade and tourism.

“Gambia has rich tourism resources, and the number of Chinese tourists travelling abroad had been growing rapidly for many years. China’s overseas tourists will reach 390 million in 2030, bringing great business opportunities for countries with rich tourism resources. 

“The Chinese side would like to encourage more Chinese tourists to come to visit the smiling coast of Africa.”

Dr Momodou Tangara the Gambia’s Foreign Minister said Gambia-China cooperation will move from strength to strength.
