Jonathan McKinstry, coach of Gambia senior football team, has invited a good number of young Gambian players to his 24-man squad against the Seychelles.
The Scorpions will play their World Cup qualifying opening match in Morocco.
The invited young players include Ebrima Jarju, Sheikh Sibi, Sainey Sanyang, Omar Gaye, Daddy Dodou Gaye, Edrissa Ceesay, Dembo Saidykhan, Alasana Manneh, Mamadou Bajo, Musa Juwara, Adama Bojang, and Adama Sidibeh.
In his unveiling remarks, the 38-year-old northern Irish man said: “we have tried to have quite a lot of balance in this squad in terms of positions, in terms of experiences, in terms of youth. But there are also a lot of injuries. That means we have to sort of pivot in one or two positions and we see quite a few new names in the squad.”
He added: “So, that’s the 24-man list that will be travelling with us to Morocco for the first game against the Seychelles and then onwards to the second game against Gabon.”
