Colley Stars FC have been crowned champions of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) APS Wallet Men’s Division Two League after a dramatic final day twist in the title race.

The club, owned by Gambia national team captain Omar Colley, completed a remarkable campaign by lifting the title on the final day of the season.

Heading into the final round of matches, Kanifing East FC occupied top spot with 60 points, while Colley Stars followed closely with 59 points as shown in the standings above.

However, the race took an unexpected turn as Kanifing East suffered a 1-0 defeat against Wagadu FC in Serekunda East.

Colley Stars were held to a goalless draw by AJ Soccer FC, but the point proved enough to move them above their rivals and seal the Division Two title.

A dramatic ending to the season sees Omar Colley’s side secure promotion to the top flight not just as promoted side, but as champions of the league.
