The Court of Appeal has set 13 December for ruling on Yankuba Touray’s appeal against his death sentence.
Touray was sentenced to death by hanging by the high court last July for his role in the extrajudicial killing of former finance minister, Ousman Koro Ceesay, in 1995.
However, Touray and his counsel Abdoulie Sisoho filed an appeal shortly after the high court verdict.
Counsel Sisoho wants the court to set aside the high court judgement against his client and set him free.
But Senior State Counsel, M.B. Sowe urged the appeal court to dismiss the application filed by Yankuba Touray.
He said the judgement was based on sound legal principles and supported by evidence.
