Essau Magistrates’ Court has remanded a father accused of beating his 7-year-old daughter to death.

The accused, Ousman Gaye, who is a resident of Kerr Sait Cham in Upper Niumi District has been charged with murder.

He was accused of killing his 7-year-old daughter, Mariama Gaye, on 29 December 2022, Niumi FM reports. 

Police prosecuting officer Inspector Kebba Ceesay applied for the murder case to be transferred to the high court, and urged the court to remand the accused person. 

Principal Magistrate Anna O. Mendy granted the prosecution’s application and ordered that the accused person be remanded pending his appearance at the high court.
