The mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) and Supersonics Financial Services have jointly launched a D20 million fund for youth entrepreneurs in the municipality.
The micro finance fund, which was launched today, is geared towards helping young entrepreneurs in the KMC run their startups.
A KMC youth councillor Kemo Bojang has been praised for his role in the creation of the youth fund.
The mayor of KMC Talib Bensouda said in a Facebook post:
“Kemo came to my office last month wanting to support youth entrepreneurship and I bought into his idea on a revolving fund that limits barriers to finance, has lower than average interests and ties credit on condition of completing business training with Empretec.
“My Message to the youth is to use the funds responsibly and to always remember they already have what it takes (ingenuity), and to treat the fund as a tool.”
Almamo Fatty, CEO of Supersonics Financial Services, said:
“Development in any country starts with the youths and it’s always our desire to uplift the lives of youth of our country rather than see them perish through waters of the sea. We have initiated this laudable cause with my good friend Lord Mayor through his youth councillor Kemo to help the youths of KMC to tap into their potentials.”
