Lawyer Ousainou Darboe has hit back hard at ex-vice president Fatoumatta Tambajang, who accused him of being the intended beneficiary of a controversial constitutional amendment.
The leader of United Democratic Party branded the claim false, saying it was Tambajang herself who first enjoyed the change that scrapped the age limit for top office.
“What concerns me is her allegation that the Constitution was changed to suit me. If it had truly been for my benefit, I would have lobbied President Adama Barrow to appoint me,” he said.
“In reality, she was the first beneficiary. To claim it was to favour me is deceitful. I even stood by her when others opposed her, as she was already above the age limit to serve as vice president,” Darboe, who also served as a vice president added.
