Ousainou Darboe has called on Gambians to oust President Adama Barrow, labelling him a “fortune-teller leader” who has repeatedly made empty promises since assuming power.
Darboe, who has been at odds with Barrow since his dismissal from government in 2019, urged citizens to hold the president accountable and choose new leadership.
Speaking during a rally on his nationwide tour, Darboe said: “fellow Gambians, our country is at a crossroads. Let us not allow ourselves to be fooled again.
“We must reject leaders who act like a fortune-teller, coming to us with sweet but empty promises. Corruption is rampant in this government, and the entire country is insecure.
“The only people who feel secure are government officials with personal protection. Every day, we hear about murders – something that was once alien to our country.
“These actions are new to us. The people in power are not serious about developing this country; they are only in office to enrich themselves. That is why corruption is on the rise.”
