The Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG) has conducted a significant operation leading to the arrest of several individuals for possession of illicit drugs, including ecstasy and cannabis.
The agency apprehended Mourtala Ndiaye, a 37-year-old Senegalese businessman, at the Mayamba checkpoint. He was found with 261 pills of ecstasy concealed in a transparent nylon bag hidden inside a brown bag.
In another incident, Omar Bah, a 19-year-old resident of Dippa Kunda, was arrested by Serekunda DLEAG, possessing three parcels of suspected cannabis sativa wrapped in white paper.
Further arrests included Amat Khan, 36, from Banjul, who was caught with 32 wraps of suspected Kush concealed in white paper and a medical sachet.
At the same checkpoint, Assan Jah, a 29-year-old Senegalese national, was arrested with 199 pills of ecstasy hidden in a pink bag.
In a series of coordinated efforts in the Kanifing area, DLEAG detained several individuals, including Alpha Kandeh, 30, with quantities of suspected cannabis sativa; Alpha Jallow, 20, with 13 wraps of cannabis sativa; and Bakary Samateh, 24, with five wraps of cannabis sativa.
Additionally, a group of four men—Edrisa Touray, 19, Modou Sohna ,24, Mansour Ceesay ,25, and Samuel Gomez (26)—were arrested by CTI DLEAG with a large bundle of suspected cannabis sativa.
Authorities at the Banjul Ferry Terminal apprehended Momodou Saidy, 61, with four pieces of suspected cocaine wrapped in white paper.
DLEAG also arrested Dawda Jaw,27, and Ousainou Keita,37,at the Mayamba checkpoint, seizing 100 pills of ecstasy concealed in medical sachets within a water bottle.
Meanwhile, Adama Chery, 28, was arrested with a large bundle of suspected cannabis sativa in his vehicle.
In another incident, Modou Lamin Sambou, 24, was detained with a significant quantity of suspected cannabis, while Chiekh Ahmed Tijan Kaba, a 23-year-old Senegalese, was caught with 128 pills of ecstasy concealed in his underwear.
