
The Gambia Police Force has arraigned eight suspects arrested in Jinack Kajata, North Bank Region, in connection with alleged irregular migration and human trafficking activities.
The suspects appeared before the Essau Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday on charges of human trafficking, where all eight pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors requested their remand pending ongoing investigations, a request granted by the court.
The case has been adjourned to 21 January 2026, with the accused remanded in custody.

Police reaffirmed their commitment to tackling irregular migration and prosecuting those involved in activities that endanger lives, adding that further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
