Essa Faal, leader of the Turnaround political movement, has dismissed claims by Presidential adviser Momodou Sabally that Gambian youths are happy, calling the statement untrue and out of touch with reality.
“No one is happy in The Gambia. Everyone is unhappy. Anyone who says Gambians are happy is making a false claim. Even those who are saying Gambians are happy are not happy in their own homes or with their relatives. Therefore, we should not take such statements seriously,” Faal said.
He criticised the state of the country, saying “our country is at a crossroads. Every sector is dysfunctional. Those in office care more about their personal needs than the welfare of the citizens.
“The only saving grace for the country is the efforts of the Gambian diaspora. But I can confidently say that the system has failed.”
