Gambian lawyer and leader APP-SOBEYA Essa Faal has accused President Adama Barrow of running the country in a way that favours the elite, saying the system is skewed against ordinary citizens.
Faal, who plans to run for president in 2026, has been a consistent critic of Barrow’s leadership since his own defeat in the 2021 presidential election, a result he continues to question despite conceding at the time.
Speaking on Coffee Time, Faal said: “this is why I say we should rebuild The Gambia. A Gambia built on morality and fairness. We need a just society. But what we have is a skewed system, one that favours those at the top. This is a recurring problem.”
He accused the Barrow administration of restructuring government systems to serve their interests while neglecting the needs of Gambians.
“They’ve restructured the entire system to benefit themselves, ignoring the hard-working Gambians who pay taxes. Parliament uses these funds as they see fit, with little regard for the people. It’s sad, unjust, and we must change the system,” he said.
