Lamin Fatty, former national coordinator of the Child Protection Alliance (CPA), has clarified the reason for his invitation to the Old Yundum Police Station, saying it was linked to an accidental mobile money transfer made to his APS Wallet in April.
In a statement shared following his visit to the police station, Mr Fatty said he received D5,000 on 27 April 2025 from an individual identified only as “Collins”.
He explained that he had not been expecting any transfer and initially dismissed the transaction as a mistake.
“I then made an effort to establish if the transaction was indeed authentic,” he said.
“I downloaded the Wallet App to confirm and saw the transaction. I called the sender’s number, but to my surprise, the man hung up on me.”
He said he chose not to pursue the matter further, anticipating that the sender would eventually call back.
However, that follow-up call only came weeks later, from the police.
Mr Fatty said he voluntarily went to Old Yundum Police Station and showed officers his call logs from 27 April to support his account of events.
