Mamadi Sanneh, former Gambia Television Services correspondent in Basse, Upper River Region has died.

He was laid to rest in the village of Sutukoba, about 38km northeast of the city of Basse, the administrative capital of URR.

“We share the pain of losing a loved one and a colleague. We extend our condolences to the family of former Radio Gambia Correspondent in Basse, Upper River Region (URR), whose demise was reported yesterday, June 6.

“Mamadi Sanneh, known by colleagues in the media and at the GRTS Basse substation as Robin White (a former BBC Africa Editor), was a hard-working reporter,” Gambia Press Union (GPU) said.

According to the Union, between 2015 and 2017, he was part of a project by the GPU affiliate, the Network of Agricultural Communicators, on Enhancing Agricultural Production Through Agric Journalism.

“Sanneh produced and hosted several radio-talk shows on Agriculture – shining a light on the challenges faced by farmers in URR.”
