Former Latrikunda Sabiji lawmaker Saikou Marong has lashed out at his successor lawmaker Yaya Sanyang for attacking President Adama Barrow on social media.

Yaya Sanyang had blasted Barrow on his Facebook page for attacking activist Madi Jobarteh. 

However, the lawmaker’s statement has been condemned by Barrow’s supporters as “indecent and rude” comments by an MP.

“Latrikunda Sabiji voted for Yaya Sanyang for the next five years and we respected and honoured Yaya Sanyang that he is the National Assembly member of Latrikunda Sabiji. 

“But I am warning him that if you are a leader, you should show respect and dignity for whatever you do. President Adama Barrow is Gambia’s leader,” Saikou Marong said.

“If you don’t want people to attack your leader, you should respect other people leaders. Man should have a respect. And we will not accept his attack on Adama Barrow. There should not be insults in anyone’s criticism on Barrow especially a lawmaker,” he added.

He continued: “You said you will impeach a president and you have no ground and reason to impeach a president and he insulted President Adama Barrow, and not only him but anyone who insults President Adama Barrow, we are coming after you.”
