Brikama’s main market was burnt down last night as firefighters battled for several hours to bring under control the dramatic blaze. 

The blaze – which came a month after another major market fire in Basse – broke out in the early hours of Tuesday morning tearing through the market. 

“Like any other fire, this one was of course devastating,” a Fire Service spokesman told The Fatu Network. 

He said firefighters from the Brikama 

Fire station due to the lack of a fire vehicle. 

He added that the blaze was put out by firefighters from Serrekunda and Kotu. 

The cause of the fire is being investigated. No one was reported injured, the authorities said.
