A flight of Gambian deportees is expected to arrive in Banjul from Germany tonight, Gambiana has been reliably informed.

Yahya Sonko, Germany-based Gambian migration activist, has said in a statement that it has been confirmed that a deportation flight carrying Gambians from Germany is scheduled to arrive in The Gambia tonight.

However, he added that the Gambian government has “not been able to resist the European Union’s directive for deportation”.

“Several individuals awaiting deportation have reported from the airport in Germany, confirming that the flight has not yet departed but is expected to leave soon.

“We urge families and friends of those being deported to prepare to be at Banjul International Airport at 1:00 AM Gambian time to receive their loved ones,” he said.
