Almameh Gibba, the National Assembly member for Foni Kansala, has said that anyone implicated in the controversial sale of assets linked to former President Yahya Jammeh will face prosecution.

“Whoever ate (benefited illegally) from those assets will vomit them. If you are found wanting, the law will take action against you. The IGP will take action, and arrests will be made. We are not going to compromise on this.

“These assets are our assets. They are no longer Jammeh’s assets, they belong to us,” he told Gambiana.

Gibba, one of Jammeh’s diehard loyalists, was speaking exclusively to Gambianafollowing the setting up of a parliamentary committee tasked with investigating the sale of the former president’s assets and issuing recommendations for possible prosecution.

This follows The Republic investigation into the sold-off assets allegedly looted by Jammeh.

The committee has been given a 184-day to complete its inquiry.
