Omar Sey, a former Gambian health minister, has passed away today (6 September) at the aged of 57 following a long illness.

Mr Sey served as health minister under the Jammeh administration from 2013 to 2017.

Other senior roles held by Mr Sey included liaison officer at the World Health Organisation.

Tributes have been paid to the former minister who was described as a “great health expert who moves the health sector of this country forward”.
