Former leader of The Gambia Action Party says he won’t quit politics after his expulsion from the party over a viral pornographic video.

Retired general Lamin Bojang in his first public statement since the pornographic video went viral, said he would remain steadfast in achieving his political goals and he would not be cowed.

“Wollahi today I am stronger because of you, my spirit is more rekindled and there is no way that somebody can force me to resign from politics,” Mr Bojang who was on Tuesday expelled from the party told reporters at a press conference.

He denied he was the man shown in the video fondling his nipples and genital organ.

The retired general said his wife had stood by him during this trying times. According to him, “when this type of smear campaign happened the first person that is severely affected is your spouse.

“I want to thank my wife for her understanding and her cooperation. And also through her, thank her family for the support that they have given me all throughout, from last week to date.”

He added: “My wife has been doubting but Alhamdullilah when she went through every bit of this incident, she vowed and swore that we are going to stand in this together shoulder to shoulder.”
