In a statement, the former president stated: “I’m celebrating leaders like Fatou Baldeh in our Girls’ Opportunity Alliance Network.

“Fatou leads an organization called Women in Liberation and Leadership working to end female genital mutilation and protect the rights of women and girls in [the] Gambia.”

“They’ve developed a community-led approach—offering support to survivors, teaching girls about their rights, and hosting sessions to discuss and challenge norms around female genital mutilation.
“I’m proud of the work that Fatou and leaders across our Girls Opportunity Alliance Network are doing to build a better future for us all,” the statement added.
