Alpha Bah, Foroyaa Newspaper’s IT Technician and Webmaster, has passed away this morning after a long illness.

Journalists have taken to their social media accounts to pay their respect to a man they described as “humble and respectable”.

Bah has been praised for his braveness to defend rights of workers at his office and promotion of journalism in the country. He will be laid to rest in Manjai Darusalam at 2pm.

The Gambia Press Union mourned the death of Bah adding that “he is known among colleagues to be hardworking, gentle and respectful”.

“He also supported workers rights initiatives and was a founding member and Vice Chairperson of the Foroyaa Workers Association. 

“By virtue of his work at Foroyaa, he is known to have contributed significantly to the creation of an informed, educated and enlightened society in The Gambia. 

“The GPU extend condolences to his family and pray that Allah grant them the fortitude to bear this loss. May Allah grant him Jannah,” the Union said.
