Police have arrested four individuals following a violent confrontation between rival gangs in Sinchu Alagie.

In a statement, police said the arrests were made during an Anti-Crime Unit (ACU) patrol targeting known hotspots across the Greater Banjul Area, including Wellingara, Sukuta, Talinding, Serrekunda, Brusubi Phase 2 and Sinchu Alagie.

While most areas remained calm, officers responded to a disturbance at Five Junctions in Sinchu Alagie, where a clash reportedly occurred between members of the Ghetto Force Crew and the Blackpool Ghetto Crew.

Police described the incident as part of a “cycle of retaliation” between the two groups.

Four suspects , Yaya Jallow, Modou Sanneh, Muhammad Lamin Jallow, and Salieu Ndow,  believed to be affiliated with the Ghetto Force Crew, were taken into custody.

Weapons recovered at the scene included cutlasses, a knife, glass bottles and wire cables.

The police said investigations are ongoing, and the suspects remain in detention.

“The Gambia Police Force reiterates its firm stance against gang violence and reassures the public that operations will continue until peace and safety are fully restored,” the statement read.
